Good Morning, Spicy Yarnies

You know what they say—practice makes perfect. But who in the world is perfect anyway? Whether you’re neurotypical or neurodivergent, perfection is really just a myth. Today, I want to share my first crochet projects with you and laugh together at what “practice makes perfect” can look like for just one woman diagnosed with ADHD.

Learning with YouTube

After my first yarn club meeting, I was eager to learn more about crocheting—like, ASAP. So, I ran straight to YouTube and started searching for beginner crochet tutorials. The best channel I found (and could easily follow) was Club Crochet. I started with their “Crocheting 101: How to Crochet for Complete Beginners” playlist. It was fun, engaging, and super easy to follow along. And, as someone with ADHD, I loved that I could pause and rewind as much as I wanted. I could learn at my own pace!

My first FO (that’s short for “Finished Object”) was a hacky sack. I was able to confidently crochet a sphere, but since I didn’t have anything heavy to stuff it with like a real hacky sack, I improvised with cotton balls!

I loved how all the work I put into making this hacky sack turned into something real and tangible—a Finished Object! That first FO really motivated me to keep going with crochet.

Let me know if you’d like any further adjustments! This revision keeps the friendly tone while improving clarity and flow, ensuring that it’s engaging for your ADHD readers.
